Fynneas Fog: Nine of Swords

Available May 15, 2021.

Having grown up in the solitude of the north and Godsreach, Fynn is entirely unprepared for what awaits him when he and his family arrive at the capital city. He knew things would be different, but he never imagined his year would be fraught with murder, monsters, and magic.

Quickly, Fynn learns that not everything is as it seems and there are plenty of secrets yet uncovered - secrets held by none other than his own family. With all the stress of being a young royal embroiled in an age-old conflict between the world of the living and the creatures beyond, the young prince is in for more than he may be able to handle. Not only that, but he has to contend with the upcoming school year.

At the end of the summer and far from home and everything that’s familiar, Fynn has to learn to work with his classmates if any of them are going to have a chance of making it through their first year at the Morancy Academy of Military Arts. Stuck on an island full of eccentric instructors, enchanted jungles, man-eating mermaids, labyrinths, and talking spiders, will any of them make it to the end of year games?

Fynneas Fog: Blood in the Water

Available July 4, 2023.

Fynn and Hollyn are back for another year at Morancy and this time, they've got a lot more to worry about than the monsters in the jungle and their unhinged professors.

Not everything at Morancy is as it seems. Secrets abound within the castle walls and danger lurks around every corner. Fearing that something terrible is fast approaching, Moriah does all he can to prepare the princes for whatever may be in store for them. That said, the Lord Commander certainly has his work cut out for him.

Unfortunately for Moriah and the boys, school isn’t the only thing they’ll have to contend with. Diabolical plots, a wicked plague, and an ancient cult will make getting through their second year at the academy unscathed a near impossibility.

GoodReads Reviews

“The characters and all of their interactions with each other. I loved watching relationships grow and evolve throughout this story and how many point of views we get. I also liked that some of the familiar tropes you expect in a war games/military school story are subverted in clever ways in this story. I also enjoyed the jungle setting, which is not something I get to explore a lot of when I read fantasy. This was an incredibly cozy and fun read for me. I loved how immersed I got in this world that both felt familiar to stories I read growing up but with new/adult twists. I am very excited to see what happens in the next installments in this series, especially with some of the reveals at the end of this one!”

“I received an ARC of Nine of Swords from the author. At first I was a bit surprised by how long it is. But it was such a quick read. I didn’t want it to end. The tropical island setting is so unique. I don’t think I’ve read a fantasy set on an island before. Also the characters feel so real. Moriah is probably my favorite character. And I definitely ship Fynn and Lux. I need more people to read this book so I have someone to talk to about all my fan theories!”

“This book feels like Harry Potter met Game of Thrones in the best way. Wonderful way to escape reality. I read it on my kindle and didn’t realize how many pages there were until I went to review it. Easy read - highly suggest for avid and non avid readers alike if you like fantasy/ action and a little drama.”

“Throughly enjoyed reading this book, characters well defined and interesting. I can't wait for the next book to come out from this author.”

“I had the great good fortune of getting to read an ARC of this book. Despite its evident length it turned out to be a remarkably quick and fulfilling read. You get so invested in the characters that you just don’t realize that 100 pages have flown by! Speaking of the characters, there is someone for everyone to love. The cast I characters is large and varied but each is given time to grow and get fully fleshed out. Personally, I’m fond of Dug, but found myself equally intrigued by the rest of the characters and their interactions. I’m greatly looking forward to Book II, but in the meantime I’ll be re-reading Book I. I just don’t want to leave this world or the characters behind ! And I know fellow readers will feel the same!”

“Didn’t want it to end. Can’t wait for the next book in the series. Captivating.”
